Welcome
"De smaa haver" (the small gardens) in Copenhagen are an original part of the history and culture of the city. They have been renovated and brought up to modern standards, but have kept their original looks. M.G.Petersens familiehave - an outdoor restaurant, is one of the best preserved and is worth your while. What "Grinzing" (an area of Vienna full of small taverns making their own wine and beer) for centuries has been for the Viennese, the small gardens of "Pileallé" are for Copenhageners.
This year M.G.Petersen family garden, situated at Pile Allé no. 16, will have been in existence for 150 years. A reason to celebrate and visit the garden and to linger for a moment in a world obsessed with forward motion. Petersen was the original founder of this old garden restaurant, way back in the year 1858, which today lies proudly beside The Frederiksberg Garden - a beautiful and peaceful park. To the other side the city gets more and more intense - but here you can feel the cozy atmosphere of former days, enjoy a delicious original danish "smørrebrød" or meal and enjoy good music!
The first owner supplemented his pension by treating Frederiksberg Park guests to boiled water, milk and coffee (only on special occasions). Today, we offer a slightly wider menu selection!
